COOPERS ROCK STATE FOREST
This 12,700-acre forest serves as a recreation, hunting and fishing area, with rock cliffs and hiking paths lining the Cheat River Gorge to provide splendid overlooks. Many trails meander through forest valleys and over ridges, and a number of creeks beckon the explorer and angler. Glade Run is dammed to form a six-acre pond that is regularly stocked with trout.
MILAN PUSKAR STADIUM
There’s nothing quite like seeing a West Virginia University football game at this 60,000-seat outdoor stadium. From the moment the famous Mountaineer marching band strikes up its pregame performance until the team takes the field to sing "Country Road" after each home victory, the stadium tiers literally rock with energy.
This 14,000-seat arena has been the home of West Virginia University basketball for more than four decades, but it has also been the site of commencements, concerts, conferences, floor shows and a host of educational and athletic events. The arena has also been the site of conference basketball tournament championships, NCAA basketball events, and gymnastics regionals.
MONONGALIA COUNTY BALLPARK
Home to the West Virginia University baseball team, this $21-million ballpark is the top baseball park in the region with amenities that match some professional baseball stadiums.
This state-of-the-art recreational and educational complex is located on over 300 acres of reclaimed mining landscape and features spaces for private events, an Athletic Field and Special Events Area, turf fields, a fair pavilion, baseball and softball fields, horseshoe courts and more.
